Andaman Islands
Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep)
An island known for its mangrove creeks and, after dark, naturally occurring bioluminescence.
Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep), Andaman and Nicobar Islands
Havelock Island, officially Swaraj Dweep, is where we run every trip. The mangrove creeks here are sheltered and narrow, calm enough for a first time paddler and quiet enough that the wildlife stays put as you pass: fiddler crabs on the banks, mudskippers on the mud flats, and kingfishers and herons working the creek edges. The island is reached by ferry, roughly 90 minutes to two hours depending on the boat, and trips meet at Havelock Jetty. After dark the same creeks become the setting for our bioluminescent night paddle, which is the only place we run it. Daytime kayaking is Rs 3,500 per adult for two hours, and the night trip is Rs 3,500 per person.
