About This Experience

A 1.5 hour night paddle through the dark mangrove creeks of Havelock Island, where naturally occurring bioluminescence may be visible depending on conditions. The glow comes from plankton that light up when the water is disturbed, so it shows best on new moon nights in calm, unlit water. Bioluminescence is never guaranteed. Groups are capped at eight, every kayak carries a light, and the minimum age is 10.

Safety Information

Night trips stay inside sheltered mangrove creeks and never go into open sea. Groups are capped at eight paddlers rather than ten, every kayak carries a light, and a second guide runs safety cover. A fitted life jacket is worn from launch to landing by everyone, including guides, with no exceptions. The safety briefing happens on land before anyone gets into a kayak. You do not need to be able to swim. Minimum age is 10. If weather, wind or visibility deteriorates we cancel the trip and refund in full rather than paddle in conditions we do not like.
